Looking for an experienced…

Looking for an experienced adopter only! Everyone, say hello to Abel! Abel was rushed to Clarks Grove Vet Clinic on Nov. 20th after being removed from a home by the AL police department. Abel was found locked in a kennel in the basement with horrific wounds. Abel was emaciated at only 35 lbs, dehydrated and was covered with many severely infected wounds from dog bites, and a high temp of 101°. Part of his right ear eventually had to be removed due to infection/ dead tissue and we were all very concerned he may lose his front leg. After a long recovery and many friends made at the clinic, Abel finally was able to come to our shelter. Abel is a 2-3 year old Pocket Pit Bull who is short but built like a brick house! Abel needs an experienced home/ owner willing to work with him on some of his hang ups. We feel he deserves a chance at the possibility of finding the perfect fit, as we are a no-kill shelter. Abel needs a home with no kitties, small critters or other dogs. He would prefer to be the man of the home and we feel safest to make it a priority in adopting. To give Abel some credit he came from a VERY BAD home environment, so it is not his fault that his interaction with other animals is shaky. Abel will also need a fenced yard to insure he is safe and does not roam from his property. We would also require a home with older children who can handle his strength and the responsibility of having him as a part of the family. Abel will only be available for meet and greets with approved applicants and by appointment. You’re welcome to fill out an application at www.hsffc.org. *Please be respectful on this post as Abel deserves a chance at finding that perfect person willing to guide him to a better life outside the shelter. Any donation to help with Abel’s past vet bills is greatly appreciated!
